- Yes I found a link between my lives to the novel's Fatima (Dream of Trespass). In the novel the author describes especially how the Muslim world faces many changes, one of which included the problem of women's rights.
In Fatima's household there are divisions among women
themselves: those who oppose the traditional habits and those who pushed hard
for the liberation of women and their rights. In the novel there are two groups
that knit, the class of Fatimah’s mother and Chama that modern pattern knitted and
classes of Chama’s mother and Lalla Mani are still traditional. With modern
pattern illustrates that a woman's desire for a freedom to achieve its goals
without border the harem.
In the reality of my life, I found the novel as well as
the antagonism between mother and me in terms of cooking, more mothers using
materials that are still very simple, while I put more emphasis on the strange
feeling that sense it is a new invention or innovation the use of spices from
the outside.
Other relationships in which mutual cooperation is to
build the roads done by men only, but it's different now that women participate
in these activities, in addition to a woman who was married at age 17. This is
what shows gender equality between women and men to be able to do anything like
that done by men in this novel which mentions one of the pioneers of feminism
is Huda Sya'rawi.
- In this novel I found the benefits and it is important how the curiosity of a young woman to have freedom in education or politics. In this book provides an overview of how a woman should not give up and weak to achieve what they want. This makes me feel interested in understanding the content contained therein.
So that I can take a lesson the importance of having the
freedom of women to explore the things that exist in this world and get the
knowledge in various fields of political, economic or cultural as well as aware
and self-control on the function of a husband and wife where the husband was
the one who became an important role in the family, although beyond that of
gender equality between women and men in working to meet the family.
- Yes I had. Because in this case I was curious with the presented story to the theme of freedom of a woman. So I had to quickly finish this novel. In addition to the academic lectures. In which each the meeting, lecturer would give the questions related to the novel which I read. It so demand me to finish reading the novel Dream of Trespass.
- I give the score of 88, because I saw this novel has a plot that is not sequential. The story does not really follow a plot line, it moves through Mernissi's childhood and stops rather suddenly around the time of her adolescence. Besides, at only 242 pages, "Dreams of Trespass" was much too short. And my only criticism is that it was only about her childhood, but I wished for more of a continuing story and described the next fifty years. Another criticism, there is the incantation's lyric in the page 195 that is not shown in order to it is not create the musrik in the reader.
But, overall I would recommend this book as I found it
entertaining, and connected with the ideas is presented by Mernissi
to be a beautifully interesting and insightful novel that offers a unique
perspective into the realities of harem life and Mernissi’s clever talent
speaks to all women through this her novel and can combine/describe how her everyday life in a family in this culture was.
